ABILENE, Texas – The St. Gregory's men's swim team rode several top 3 finishes to its first-ever meet win Friday night at the UTPB-McMurry Tri-Meet inside the Phillips Family Center. The Cavs fell, 141-55, to the University of Texas-Permian Basin but posted a 95-86 win over McMurry University. The meet was scored as a double dual.

Mark Roselius, Michael Heon, Joe Brasher, Gabe Sanchez and Austin Cody all earned season-best times on the night. The St. Gregory's 200-yard medley relay team also had a solid meet, shaving two seconds off its national qualifying time.

Individual highlights included a pair of second-place finishes from Garrett Thompson. He posted a time of 22.65 in the 50-yard freestyle – just one one-hundredth of a second back of the winner. Thompson came in at 50.19 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Jason Schroeder had two third-place finishes. He came in at 1:56.21 in the 200-yard freestyle and 54.96 in the 100-yard fly. Sanchez was third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.04, and Cody posted 1:01.82 (second place) in the 100-yard breastroke.

The Cavs return to action Saturday at the UTPB-Wayland Baptist Tri-Meet in Midland, Texas.
