LUBBOCK, Texas – Members of the St. Gregory's track and field teams traveled to West Texas for their final regular-season indoor meet. Here are some highlights from the Red Raider Open:
- The men's 4x400 team initially attained a "B" national qualifying standard with a season-best time of 3:20.27. After altitude conversion, however, the Cavs had to settle for 3:22.71 – .29 seconds away from the standard. That time is listed as 14th overall in the NAIA.
- Anthony Watkins just missed a standard in the 55 hurdles, coming in at 7.92 – that's .05 from the "B" standard.
- Hosea Maritim had a season-best time of 1:54.90 in the 800. He finished third in the event.
- Robert Torres shattered his personal best in the 800 with a time of 1:58.51. That was good for 10th overall.
- Sabrina DeSantiago and Ben Dodson ran season-bests in the 600 with times of 1:30.88 and 1:16.36, respectively.
- Quintin Powell ran a season-best 50.83 in the 400 – 22nd overall.
The NAIA Indoor Championship meet is scheduled for March 5-7 in Geneva, Ohio. Maritim will compete in the 800 as will the men's 4x800 relay team of Dodson, Gustavo Escobar, Torres and Maritim.
