ABILENE, Texas – It was a productive weekend for the St. Gregory's women's and men's track and field teams. The Cavaliers claimed seven event wins Saturday at the Hardin-Simmons Invitational in Abilene, Texas.

The men's team claimed second overall while the women's team was fourth.

Here are some highlights from the event:

  • Sabrina DeSantiago won both the 800- and 3,000-meter run. She came in at 2:22.73 in the 800. DeSantiago's time of 11:08.80 in the 3,000 was 50 seconds faster than the nearest competitor.
  • Holly Anderson posted a pair of top 6 finishes, including third place in the 100-meter hurdles.
  • Jerica Heyd won the triple jump at 10.98 meters. She was third in the long jump with a distance of 4.95 meters.
  • Sara Cuzick finished third in the hammer (41.78).
  • Baldomero Lozano was second in the 100 with a time of 11.11.
  • Quintin Powell won the 400 (49.42) and finished third in the 200 (22.96).
  • Robert Torres won the 800 with a time of 1:58.53 and the 3,000 at 9:31.67. Dustin Baxter was second in the 3,000 with a time of 9:59.58.
  • Anthony Watkins won the 400 hurdles, coming in at 55.32. Ben Dodson was third in the event at 57.08.

St. Gregory's returns to action April 11 at the PSU Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.
