COMMERCE, Texas – Several top 10s and season-best performances highlighted St. Gregory's trip to the East Texas Invitational Saturday. The meet was hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce at Memorial Stadium.
Here are some highlights from the event:
- Sabrina DeSantiago finished third in both the 800 (2:22.83) and the 1500 (4:51.06).
- Jerica Heyd was third in the triple jump (11.15) and had a personal-best performance in the long jump.
- Sara Cusick turned in a top 4 finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.97 – a season best.
- Holly Anderson's time of 16.42 in the 100 hurdles was a season best as was Shannah Daymude's 1:06.74 in the 400.
- The men's 4x400 relay team of Anthony Watkins, Hosea Maritim, Ben Dodson and Quintin Powell just missed a "B" national qualifying standard. Their time of 3:17.04 was only four one-hundredths of a second off the standard.
- Baldomero Lozano turned in a top 10 performance in the 100 (11.18), and Quintin Powell had a season-best time of 49.18 in the 400.
- Watkins was 18 one-hundredths of a second off the "B" standard in the 110 hurdles (15.18). He finished sixth overall – just in front of Demetrius Jones' 15.81.
- Dustin Swift finished eighth in the 400 hurdles after coming in at 58.76.
St. Gregory's travels to the MSSU Williams/Laptad Invitational in Joplin, Mo., on Friday.
