PITTSBURG, Kan. – The St. Gregory's track and field teams set a pair of school records this weekend at the Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center. Several personal records fell as the Cavaliers turned in arguably their best team performance of the season.

Here are the highlights:

  • Sabrina DeSantiago set a school record in the 800, finishing 11th overall with a personal-best time of 2:20.88. She was just short of the provisional standard in the 600, turning in a time of 1:30.69 – also a personal record.
  • The men's DMR team of Jose Fonseca, Tyler Farris, Mohamed Bassime and Robert Torres shattered the school record, coming in at 10:35.92.
  • Robert Torres just missed a "B" standard in the 800 with a personal-record 1:56.81.
  • Ben Dodson had PRs in the 400 (50.50) and 600 (1:14.85).
  • Sophia Weisbruch turned in personal records in the 600 (1:31.94) and 800 (2:26.77).
  • Shannah Daymude's 1:03.64 in the 400 was a personal-best as was her 1:35.96 in the 600.
  • Jose Fonseca cut 20 seconds off his PR, running 9:06.23 in the 3000.
  • Heather Johnson finished the 600 in 1:40.94 – a personal record.
  • Tyler Farris finished with a season-best 23.28 in the 200 after his 400 leg in the DMR.
  • Demetrius Jones had a season-best time of 8.61 in the 60 hurdles and 23.98 in the 200.
  • Holly Anderson had a season-best time of 10.05 in the 60 hurdles.
  • The women's 4x400 team of Shannah Daymude, Sabrina DeSantiago, Sophia Weisbruch and Heather Johnson turned in a season-best time of 4:19.23.
  • The men's 4x400 team of Ben Dodson, Robert Torres, Tyler Farris and Mohamed Bassime came in at a season-best 3:27.06.

St. Gregory's travels to the Nebraska Tune-Up Friday. That event will be hosted at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb.
