JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Robert Torres will represent St. Gregory's this week at the 2016 NAIA Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Johnson City, Tenn. The event, scheduled for March 3-5, will be held at the David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field.
Torres, a junior from Salinas, Calif., enters the championship meet with the eighth-best time in the 1,000-meter run. He won the event in 2:31.03 at the Fred Beile Classic on February 6. The personal-best time automatically qualified Torres for nationals.
Torres, who qualified for cross country nationals this past season, will be making his first appearance at the championship event as an individual in track. He is scheduled to compete Friday in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. (CST). If Torres advances to the finals, he will run at 1:35 p.m. (CST) Saturday.
The NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships will be streamed live at www.NAIANetwork.com. The production will feature a four-channel feed for the fan to watch separate track events, and field events that include the pole vault, long jump, high jump and throws. The dedicated track channel will have a broadcaster to enhance the viewer experience.
