DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – St. Gregory's cheer team finished seventh Friday in the finals of the NCA Collegiate Cheer Championships at Band Shell. The Cavaliers, who advanced to the championship round for the fourth straight year, competed in All-Girl Division III.
SGU posted a final-round score of 84.98 and was the only school with no deductions. The Cavs were 1.62 points back of sixth-place Stevenson (Md.). Davenport (Mich.) won the event after posting a 95.75.
St. Gregory's survived elimination Thursday in the Challenge Cup, posting a gutty win to stay alive at the Ocean Center venue. The Cavs bested six other schools with a score of 84.98.
SGU finished 11th out of 14 in the prelims with a final score of 81.15 before bouncing back with their big win in the Challenge Cup.
