St. Gregory's golf teams open their 2016-17 seasons next week, traveling down the interstate to the SCU Fall Intercollegiate. That event will be hosted at Oklahoma City's Lake Hefner Golf Course on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The women's team is looking to build off a 2015-16 season during which they posted the program's first-ever tournament title. The Cavs are balanced with three returners and three newcomers on the roster. Taylor Greteman, a senior from Moore, led SGU with an 84.1 scoring average a season ago.
The men's team is coming off perhaps the program's best-ever season – posting wins at the SGU Cavalier Classic and the Central Baptist Spring Invitational. The Cavs finished the year ranked No. 28 in the NAIA and are eyeing their first national tournament berth in 2017.
"We're really looking forward to a great season," said head coach Rob Bennett, who enters his fourth season. "We've got an awesome core group returning to go along with some phenomenal freshmen. I really think this is going to be a great year for SGU Golf."
