OKLAHOMA CITY – St. Gregory's freshman Braden Ricks fired a two-round 149, leading the Cavaliers to a third-place finish this week at the SCU Fall Intercollegiate. The tournament was hosted at Hefner Golf Course's 6,970-yard layout.
Ricks, a Shawnee native, had a solid opening event in his Cavalier debut. His first-round 72 was the lowest score carded by an SGU player at the tournament. He finished tied for seventh.
Andrew Joiner snuck into the top 10 with a 74-76, while Morgen Pettigrew tied for 14th with a two-day total of 152. Rickey Hong and Reese Leiker had the top final-round scores for SGU, each carding a 75. Hong tied for 26th (155), and Leiker tied for 47th (162).
Kansas Wesleyan won the team title after shooting 294-299. KWU's Troy Watson was the top medalist, shooting a two-round 143.
St. Gregory's hosts the Cavalier Classic September 19-20 at Shawnee Country Club.
