SHAWNEE – St. Gregory's had trouble creating offensive chances Saturday, falling 1-0 to McPherson (Kan.) at Fr. Victor Roberts Field. It was the second 1-0 loss in three days for the Cavs, who dropped to 4-3 on the season.

The home team was outshot, 19-2, for the game. The Cavs got only one shot on goal.

The Bulldogs, who received votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll, got all the offense they would need early on. Edward Gomez hooked up with Brayam De La Cruz in the 17th minute, sending a ball just out of the reach of SGU keeper Adrian Cole.

McPherson (5-1-1) held the ball for most of the second half, holding an 11-1 shot advantage over the final 45 minutes.

Cole was active in goal, turning away a season-high seven shots. Gabriel Martinez accounted for both of the Cavs' offensive attempts.

St. Gregory's (4-3) travels to Texas Wesleyan Tuesday. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Ft. Worth, Texas.
