NEWTON, Kan. – Braden Ricks led all St. Gregory's golfers with three solid rounds this week at The Mid-South. The tournament was played at Sand Creek Station's 7,111-yard layout in Newton, Kan.
The Cavaliers tied for 11th as a team with a total of 925. Oklahoma City won the event with an 18-under-par 846.
Ricks, a freshman from Shawnee, fired a pair of 73s before shooting a final-round 79 to finish tied for 33rd out of 78 golfers.
Teammates Morgen Pettigrew and Andrew Joiner also carded three rounds in the 70s. Pettigrew tied for 40th with a 77-75-76, while Joiner came in at 77-76-76 to finish tied for 43rd.
Matias Nelson recovered from an opening-round 86 to fire a 78 and 79 to finish up. Rickey Hong rounded out SGU's scores with a two-day total of 259.
St. Gregory's concludes its fall schedule October 17-18 at the NAIA Preview. That event will be hosted at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
