SHAWNEE – Oklahoma City's Alexandre Taiar accounted for all the scoring in a 2-0 win over St. Gregory's Tuesday at Fr. Victor Roberts Field. The Stars won their third straight overall, sending the Cavaliers to their eighth consecutive defeat.
Taiar, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, increased his team-leading goal total to nine with his effort. He scored in the 42nd minute on an indirect free kick from six yards out to make it 1-0. Taiar struck again in the 73rd minute, converting a pass from Petar Djurdjevic.
OCU (11-3, 5-1 SAC) had a 17-6 advantage in total shots. SGU had trouble creating scoring opportunities, finishing without an on-target attempt.
SGU's Gabriel Martinez led his team with three shots. Adrian Cole finished with seven saves for the Cavs.
SGU (4-9, 0-6 SAC) returns to action Saturday at home against SAGU (Texas). Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Fr. Victor Roberts Field.
