WINFIELD, Kan. – St. Gregory's turned in a program-best performance Saturday at the NAIA Mid-States Classic. The event was hosted on the grounds of Winfield Veterans Home.

As a team, the Cavaliers finished in 1:41:12 – the fastest time in program history. SGU placed seventh out of 19 teams. The race featured four schools either ranked or receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll.

Sabrina DeSantiago led all Cavs with a time of 19:05. She placed 18th out of 166 runners. Alexis Gee (19:56, 42nd) and Teresa Ambuul (20:03, 44th) both cracked the top 50. Ambuul's time was a personal record.

Cathy DelReal (20:57, 71st), Kathleen Joyce (21:09, 79th) and Alexas Vargas (21:11, 81st) were the next three to come in, finishing within a 14-second spread. Sophia Weisbruch finished in 21:43 – good for 100th.

Rounding out the times for SGU were Adriana Garza (23:34, 131st), Zyanne Baxter (24:34, 145th), and Darian Hargis (25:49, 156th).

St. Gregory's competes in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet November 5. That event is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start at Gordon-Cooper Technology Center.
