St. Gregory's started the 2012-13 season Wednesday evening with a victory over the Rams of Texas Wesleyan University.  The Cavaliers defeated their opponents from south of the red river by a final of 3-1.

The Cavaliers jumped out on the Rams in the first game of the match, winning this game 25-23.  Game two went to the visitors 25-13 as the Cavaliers stumbled a bit at the beginning of that game.  Game three again was won by St. Gregory's  and then the Cavaliers pushed on the gas during the fourth game and pulled away at the end to win by a final of 25-17.

Cavalier freshman Joey Redwine led the Cavaliers at the net as she ended the match with 12 kills.  The Decatur, Texas native also assisted on 16 plays for the Cavaliers.  Senior Aminah Orozco was the assist leader for the Cavaliers with her 22 assists while libero Yasmine Lopez came up big on the back line for the Cavaliers, ending the match with a team high 21 digs.

the Cavaliers will be back in action this holiday weekend as they travel to Bartlesville and play in the Oklahoma Wesleyan University Invitational.  The team will play Dallas Christian and Central Baptist on Friday and then Mid America Christian and Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday.  Friday's matches will be played at 5:00pm and 7:00pm and the Saturday matches will be at 9:00am and 1:00pm.  St. Gregory's will next be at home Wednesday, September 5th with a 7:00pm match against Austin College.
