FT. WORTH, Texas – Despite another double-double effort from St. Gregory's senior Ashlyn Broussard, the Cavaliers dropped a 3-1 decision (25-12, 25-13, 19-25, 25-17) to Texas Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at the Sid Richardson Center. With the win, the Lady Rams earned a regular-season split with the Cavaliers.
Broussard was solid throughout, posting her 23rd double-double of the season. She tied for match-high honors with 16 kills while adding 15 digs. Broussard hit a team-best .233 for the contest.
TWU (26-4, 13-4 SAC) was dominant in jumping out to a 2-0 lead. The home team hit .446 while allowing only 25 combined points in the opening frames.
SGU (19-13, 10-6 SAC) bounced back with a 25-19 win in the third after limiting the home team to -.064, but the Lady Rams finished it off with another solid attacking effort in the fourth – a .316 mark as a team.
Alanna Hayhurst paced the Lady Rams with 16 kills and 17 digs. Sasha Robinson finished with a match-high 42 assists.
Sarah Ahrens led the Cavs with 18 assists. Kayley Davis' 22 digs led all players.
SGU concludes its regular season with two home games next week. The Cavs take on Oklahoma City Tuesday and John Brown (Ark.) Friday.
