SHAWNEE – No. 12 Oklahoma City stayed hot with a straight-sets victory (25-23, 25-13, 25-19) over St. Gregory's Tuesday night at Sumner Field House. The Stars won their 19th consecutive match overall, dropping only four sets over that span.
SGU (19-14, 10-7 SAC) now needs a win in Friday's regular-season finale against John Brown (Ark.) to lock up fourth place in the conference and host a first-round Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament match.
OCU (27-3, 18-0 SAC) barely survived the Cavs in the opening frame. Up 24-23 in a back-and-forth set, the Stars put it away with a Manon Soraru kill from Sanja Vojnovic. The visitors controlled the final two sets for the most part, hitting a combined .367 between the games.
Soraru led all players with 13 kills on a .667 night (13-1-18). Vojnovic posted 32 assists, and Dani Chase had 17 digs.
Gabby Ware paced the Cavalier attack with seven terminations. SGU's Sarah Ahrens posted a team-best 16 assists, while Kayley Davis tallied a match-high 18 digs. Courtney Murphy, who entered the match No. 5 in the NAIA in blocks/set, had a match-best five rejections.
SGU's "Senior Day" match against John Brown is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at Sumner Field House.
