KANSAS CITY, Mo. – St. Gregory's Sabrina DeSantiago is one of four Sooner Athletic Conference runners to earn an individual bid to the 2016 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships, the national office announced Monday. The event, which features 36 teams and 82 individuals, will take place at North Farms Cross Country Course in Elsah, Ill., on November 19 at 10:30 a.m. CST.
DeSantiago, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, put herself into position for the bid after posting a time of 19:08 to finish 12th out of 66 runners at the SAC Championship meet this past weekend. She joins SAC qualifiers Destiny Garza (SAGU), Melissa Gonzales (Texas Wesleyan) and Maria Galarza (Texas Wesleyan).
DeSantiago will be making her second consecutive trip to nationals. She finished near the midpoint of the 321 qualifiers last season. Her time of 19:35 placed 178th overall.
