The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Friday that St. Gregory's cross country runners Alexis Gee and Shannah Daymude have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Nationally, 335 women's cross country athletes earned the honor.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be at least a junior.

Gee, a senior from Moore, is a biomedical sciences major with a 3.55 GPA. Daymude, a senior from Gainesville, Texas, has a 3.71 GPA while majoring in psychology.
