JOPLIN- On Friday afternoon, while at the Southern Open, Holly Anderson and Jasmine Exum battled each other for the SGU record in the 60 meter hurdles. Jasmine Exum would first set the new school record, with a time of 9.817 seconds, and then shortly after, Holly Anderson would break the new record, with a time of 9.81. Jasmine Mason turned in a strong performance for the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 26.53. Teresa Ambuul finished seventh in the women's 600 yard dash, with a time of 1:29.71. Sabrina DeSantiago finished the 800 meter race in 2:20.68, which was good for a ninth place finish. Tayler Woodard set a new personal record in the women's 60 meter dash, with a 8.10 finish.
McCrae Lopez set a new personal record in the men's 60 yard dash, with a time of 7.486. Demetrius Jones (JR/Edmond, Okla.) had a solid performance in the men's 60 meter hurdles, by finishing in 8.46, which was good for thirteenth place. Josh Garcia (FR/Pharr, Texas) ran well in the men's 200 meter, with a 23.55 finish. Robert Torres (SR/Salinas, Calif.) ran the men's 800 meter race in only 1:56.81, which was good for eighth place.
Both teams will head to Lawrence (Kan.) for the Jayhawk Classic on Friday Jan. 27, and then to the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday Jan. 28.
