LAWRENCE- On Friday the Men and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Jawhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kan. hosted by Kansas University. The excitement on Friday started when Holly Anderson (JR/Alex, Okla.) set a new personal record and set a new school record in the women's 60 meter hurdles (9.71). Jasmine Exum (FR/Edmond, Okla.) finished right behind Anderson with a 9.76 finish, which was a person record for her as well in the event. Next up was Jasmine Mason (FR/Del City, Okla.) in the 60 meter dash, where she set a new school record with a time of 8.09. Tayler Woodard (FR/Broken Arrow, Okla.) also set a new personal record in the 60 meter dash. Sabrina DeSantiago (JR/Lubbock, Texas) set a new school record in the women's 1000 meter run, and barely missed qualifying for nationals with her time of 3:06.59. Sophia Weisbruch (SO/Temple, Texas) finished fourth, and set a new personal record in the women's 1000 meter run, with a time of 3:12.92. Kathleen Joyce (FR/Edmond, Okla.) set a new personal record too, with a time of 3:33.70.
On the men's side, Jose DeOchoa finished in fourth place in the mile run, with a time of 4:43.89. Christian Arbuthnot finished in seventh in the men's 3000 meter run, with a time of 9:27.38.
The teams are competing today (Jan. 28, 2017) at the Pittsburg State Invitational.
