PITTSBURG- On Saturday afternoon, the Cavaliers track and field teams participated in the Pittsburg State Invitational. On the men's side, Robert Torres (SR/Salinas, Calif.) ran a season best in the 800 meter run, with a time of 1:58.80. In the men's distance relay, the quartet of Robert Torres, Demetrius Jones (JR/Edmond, Okla.), Jose DeOchoa (FR/Mission, Texas), and Christian Arbuthnot (FR/Goodwell, Okla.), ran a season best with a time of 10:52.65.
On the women's side, Jasmine Mason reset the school record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.05. The women's 4 x 400 team of Megan Cervantes, Sophia Weisbruch, Teresa Ambuul, and Jasmine Mason, set a new school record, with a time of 4:10.63. Coach Ross believes that this relay team could make nationals if they make a few minor adjustments. Sabrina DeSantiago set a new personal record in the women's 800 with a time of 2:24.34.
The teams will be back in action on Feb. 4 at the Fred Beile Classic in Crete, Neb.
