Women's Soccer - Tue, Sep. 18, 2012

The St. Gregory's University women's soccer team fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 3-1 loss to Bacone Tuesday at Father Victor Roberts Field. Bacone's Shayla Beene had two goals in the game's first 27 minutes, proving to be enough for the visiting Warriors.

SGU sophomore Chloe Murphy cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 61st minute, but Bacone answered just five minutes later to put the game away.

"I thought we were aggressive with our corners, which led to some scoring opportunities," Murphy said. "I was fortunate to get that second-half goal, and I thought it changed the momentum and put us in a position to win. We'll continue to work hard and build on that momentum."

Bacone outshot the Cavaliers 14-7 in the game. In addition to Murphy, both Jessica Leiva and Kristina Gonzalez had shots on goal for the home team.

SGU (0-5-1) will return to action Friday at Tabor College. Its next home game is Tuesday against Oklahoma Wesleyan. That contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
