SHAWNEE- St. Gregory's (17-9, 11-5 SAC) extended their win streak to 6 games with a double-header sweep against Bacone College (9-29, 5-9 SAC) on Wednesday. The Cavs topped the Warriors 10-1 in game one, and then they won 6-2 in game two. With the sweep, the Cavs move within a half-game of No. 24 USAO in the SAC standings. 

The Cavs struck first in game one, by scoring two runs in the bottom of the third, thanks to a RBI single from Jessica Nelson (JR/Lewisville, Texas) and a RBI single from Sammy Leisinger (SR/Little Axe, Okla.). The Warriors cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fourth, but then SGU came right back by scoring 8 runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Ashli Hafford (JR/Blanchard, Okla.) and Lexis Young (FR/Mustang, Okla.) scored the Cavs first two runs of the inning on an error, and then Leisinger drove in Baylee Hughes (FR/Brighton, Ill.) and Sutv Meely (SR/Tecumseh, Okla.) with a single to center. Crystal Pablo (SO/Gallup, N.M.) then drove in Jessica Nelson and Sammy Leisinger with a single to shallow center field. Ashli Hafford drove in the Cavs final two runs with a single to left, that brought in Lauren Miller (JR/Blanchard, Okla.) and Crystal Pablo

Bryn Houlton (JR/Savanna, Okla.) pitched all 5 innings, and picked up the win, to move to 9-4 on the season. Houlton allowed just one run on two hits, and she struck out three batters.

Sammy Leisinger led the St. Gregory's offense by going 2-3 with three RBI's and a run scored. Crystal Pablo and Ashli Hafford each went 1-2 with two RBI's and a run scored. Jessica Nelson went 1-2 with one RBI and two runs scored. Sutv Meely, Lexis Young, and Bryanne Knox (SR/Dickson, Okla.) had one hit a piece. 

In game two, the Warriors struck first with one run in the top of the second inning, but that lead didn't last long. The Cavaliers bounced back by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Cavs scored their first run of the inning when Lauren Miller hit a sac-fly to center, bringing in Jessica Nelson. Crystal Pablo scored on an misplayed groundball that Bryanne Knox had hit. Baylee Hughes then hit another groundball that was misplaed by the infield, allowing Aubrie Giguiere (FR/Harrah, OK) and Lexis Young to score. St. Gregory's extended their lead to 6-1 in the fifth. Leisinger and Miller scored on a two-RBI single hit by Ashli Hafford. Bacone added one more run in the top of the sixth, but Chula Chavez (JR/Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) shut down the Warrior offense for the rest of the game. 

Chavez went all 7 innings for the Cavs, to earn her sixth win of the year. Leisinger once again led the Cavaliers offense with another 2-3 performance. Ashli Hafford went 1-2 with two RBI's, and Baylee Hughes went 1-3 with two RBI's. Lauren Miller, Crystal Pablo, and Lexis Young each had one hit a piece as well. 

St. Gregory's will be back in action at the Ballfields at Firelake tomorrow, April 6, when they take on Mid-America Christian University. The double-header is set to begin at 3 PM.
