The St. Gregory's Men's Golf Team posted its best finish of the spring at home this week at the SGU Spring Cavalier Classic, finishing in a tie for 5th at Shawnee Country Club.
The men were led by Braden Ricks (FR/Shawnee, Okla.) who shot rounds of 74, 73 to finish in a tie for 3rd just two strokes out from the individual champion. Morgen Pettigrew (JR/Shawnee, Okla.) wasn't far behind Ricks as he posted rounds of 75, 74 to finish in a tie for 9th. Matching the Tuesday score of 73 by Ricks was Matias Nelson (FR/Mustang, Okla.) who shot a first round 78 on Monday. Rickey Hong (SO/Choctaw, Okla.) fired rounds of 79, 80 to round out the top four for the Cavaliers.
A first round score of 306 left the men in 6th after day one just nine strokes back from the team leader. The Cavaliers would go on to post a score of 300 on day two to move up one spot and gain a stroke on the leaders as they finished in a tie for 5th for the tournament.
The men will round out their season at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship being held April 24th and 25th at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City, OK.
