HILLSBORO, Kan.- The Cavaliers men and women's track and field teams competed well at the Tabor Invitational in Hillsboro, Kan. on Saturday. The Cavs day was highlighted by several wins and a new school record in men's javelin. Taylor McKenzie (SO/Keller, Texas) set a new school record in javelinwith a throw of 48.82 meters. Jasmine Mason (FR/Del City, Okla.) (FR/Del City, Okla.) set a new personal record and hit an A standard qualifying time in the women's 100 meter sprint, with a second place finish, in 12.03 seconds. Robert Torres (SR/Salinas, Calif.) won the men's 1500 with a time of 4:08.01, and Sabrina DeSantiago (JR/Lubbock, Texas) (JR/Lubbock, Texas) won the women's 1500 in 4:52.58. The women's 4X400 relay team won their event, with a time of 4:06.73. Coach Alice Ross, said that it was the best she had ever seen that quartet run, in their victory.
Caleigh Donaghe (JR/Norman, Okla.) (JR/Norman, Okla.) set a new season best in women's discus. Holly Anderson (JR/Alex, Okla.) (JR/Alex, Okla.) and Natalia Torres-Perez (FR/Katy, Texas) (FR/Katy, Texas) each set season best times in the 100 meter hurdles, while Sophia Weisbruch (SO/Temple, Texas) (SO/Temple, Texas), Teagan Dreyer (FR/Okmulgee, Okla.) (FR/Okmulgee, Okla.), Kathleen Joyce (FR/Edmond, Okla.) (FR/Edmond, Okla.), and Alexas Vargas (FR/Terrell, Texas) (FR/Terrell, Texas) each set personal records in the women's 1500. Jose DeOchoa (FR/Mission, Texas) set a new personal best in the men's 800 meter race, with a time of 2:04.25. Demetrius Jones (JR/Edmond, Okla.) set a new personal record in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.06.
The Cavs will be back in action on April 29, at the Southwestern Relays in Winfield, Kan.
