SHAWNEE- The Cavaliers (28-20, 11-10 SAC) faced off with their cross-town rival, Oklahoma Baptist University (30-15) and the Bison came away with the 5-0 victory. The former conference foes, met up earlier this season at St. Gregory's and the Bison won that game 11-2. The Cavs played more competitively this time though, having gained a confidence boost after earning a series victory over the No. 1 OCU Stars over the past weekend.
Justin Davis (SO/Oklahoma City, Okla.) gave the Cavaliers 7 strong innings on the mound in the loss, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out two batters. Davis was relieved by Joseph Melchor (SO/Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Armando Fajardo (JR/San Mateo, Calif.).
The Bison scored their first run of the game in the second inning, but they wouldn't score another until the sixth. The Bison would take a 3-0 lead in the seventh, before putting the Cavs away with two more runs in the eighth inning.
Armando Fajardo, Ryan Lujan-Leonard (JR/Moore, Okla.), Connor McCoy (JR/Highland, Calif.), Adrian Soltero (SR/Oklahoma City, Okla.), and Brady Kokojan (JR/Drummond, Okla.) each registered a hit for St. Gregory's in the game.
The Cavaliers will now prepare for their final conference series of the season against Mid-America Christian University. The Cavs will play at MACU on Thurs., April 27 at 2 PM, and then the two teams will play at St. Gregory's on Sat., April 29 at 1 and 3 PM. The game at SGU will be Senior Day, to honor our senior baseball student-athletes.
