WAXAHACHIE, Texas- St. Gregory's (24-14, 18-10 SAC) finished their regular season with a double-header sweep over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (14-33, 6-18 SAC) on Sunday. The Cavaliers offense looked as good as it has looked all season, by scoring 44 runs in the double-header. The Cavs won game one 9-4, and then had a gigantic offensive outburst in their 35-3 win in game two.

St. Gregory's got out to an early lead in game one, and then pushed that lead to 9-0 by the end of the top of the sixth, but then the Lions struck back by scoring four straight runs. SAGU's late rally would fall short though, as Chula Chavez (JR/Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) was able to close out the game.

Chavez went all 7 innings for the Cavs in the circle, allowing four runs on 9 hits, while striking out four batters. Chavez now improves to 8-6 on the season.

Jessica Nelson (JR/Lewisville, Texas) led the Cavs at the dish all day, but in game one she went for an impressive 3-4 with three doubles, two runs, and three RBI's. Bryanne Knox (SR/Dickson, Okla.) also turned in a three hit game, and she also scored one run. Lauren Miller (JR/Blanchard, Okla.) went 2-3 with a solo homerun, and Sutv Meely (SR/Tecumseh, Okla.) also collected two hits with a run scored. Crystal Pablo (SO/Gallup, N.M.) hit a three-run homer in the second inning, to give her four homeruns on the season. Ashli Hafford (JR/Blanchard, Okla.) and Baylee Hughes (FR/Brighton, Ill.) each added one hit a piece in game one as well.

The Cavs continued to swing red hot bats at the plate in game two, as they collected 27 hits as a team and scored a season-high 35 runs. 10 of the 11 Cavaliers batters collected hits in the game and 9 of the 11 scored at least one run. The Cavs trailed 2-0 at the end of the first inning, but then they scored 8 runs in the top of the second, 15 in the third, 11 in the fourth, and one in the fifth before closing out the 35-3 win. Ashli Hafford had a perfect game at the plate, by finishing 5-5 with 6 RBI's and three runs scored. Sammy Leisinger (SR/Little Axe, Okla.) went 4-6 with two doubles, four runs scored, and a game high 7 RBI's. Jessica Nelson and Lauren Miller each went 3-5 with 5 RBI's and 5 runs scored. Nelson also added a triple, and Miller hit a three-run homer. Stv Meely went 3-6 with a double, two RBI's, and 5 runs scored. Bryanne Knox finished game two with three hits, two RBI's, and four runs scored, while Crystal Pablo also had three hits with 6 runs scored. Baylee Hughes collected one hit, 3 RBI's, and scored one run. Aubrie Giguiere (FR/Harrah, OK) and Morgan Lathan (FR/Purcell, OK) each posted 1-1 performances with one RBI a piece.

Kasady Uhr (SO/Yukon, Okla.) picked up the win for the Cavs in the circle, in her four innings pitched. Ashli Hafford closed out the game for SGU in the fifth inning. This was Hafford's first pitching appearance of the season so far, after pitching 110 innings for the Cavs in 2016.

SGU has now locked up third place heading into next weekends conference tournament. The Cavs will be hosting the SAC Tournament at the Ballfields at Firelake on Thursday May 4, and Friday May 5. The times of the games will be released early this week and they will be immediately put onto the St. Gregory's athletic department website.
