SHAWNEE (Oct. 6, 2012) - Wayland Baptist's Travis Somersall slipped a shot by St. Gregory's keeper Brock Vorwald in double overtime, lifting the Pioneers to a 1-0 win Saturday at Fr. Victor Roberts Field. The shot came after Cristhian Ospina split two defenders with a pass near midfield, finding a sprinting Somersall just onside for the game-winner.

"That was a disappointing one...probably the toughest loss of the season," said SGU coach Andrew Rundell. "We were down a few starters today, but the guys who were out there really battled and played well. We just didn't capitalize on the few opportunities we had. They converted their opportunity at the end."

SGU (4-7, 0-3) lost for the fourth time in a row and second consecutive time when outshooting its opponent. The Cavaliers held an 11-8 advantage in shots Saturday. Both teams had four shots on goal and seven corner kicks. Arturo Flores, Mark McGrath and Stephen Cummins led the SGU attack with three shots each. Vorwald finished with three saves.

The Cavaliers return to action Friday at home against Mid-America Christian. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
