The second half was more evenly contested with the visitors holding a 9-5 advantage on shots. MACU (7-6, 2-2 SAC) increased its advantage to 4-0 in the 65th minute on a Chelsea Swisher goal. The Cavaliers responded with 10 seconds remaining in the game on an unassisted goal by Criscela Hernandez.
SGU's Jennifer Alesch led her team with three shots, including two on goal. Cavalier keeper Jennifer Taber had four saves.
SGU returns to action Wednesday at John Brown University. That game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
