WINFIELD, Kan. - St. Gregory's University freshman Dominic Escobar finished 35th out of 219 runners Saturday at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan. The freshman from Boulder, Colo., turned in a time of 26:14 on the 8,000-meter course, pacing all Cavalier runners.

SGU finished 17th as a team with a total time of 2:22:55. Behind Escobar was Hosea Maritim (27:34), Gustavo Escobar (28:15), Grayson Ceballos (29:48) and Dontayveous Allen (31:01).

"The men's race went out pretty fast, and some of our men got caught up in it," said SGU coach Matt Aguero. "We have to use this as a learning experience. I know these guys will perform much better at the conference meet."

The Sooner Athletic Conference meet will be in Shawnee on November 3.
