SHAWNEE - St. Gregory's University freshman runner Dominic Cabada qualified for the NAIA National Meet and earned All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors Saturday with a 12th place finish at the SAC meet in Shawnee. Cabada turned in a time of 25:39 on the 8,000-meter course.

"Cabada and (Dontayveous) Allen ran outstanding," said SGU coach Matt Aguero. "As a team, the men ran much better than last time out. For a first-year program, I am pleased with our finish."

Allen finished second among SGU runners with a time of 26:52, good for 27th place overall. He was followed by Gustavo Escobar (27:31, 35th), Hosea Maritim (28:09, 45th) and Grayson Ceballos (29:14, 52nd). The Cavaliers finished sixth as a team with a total time of 2:17:25.

Cabada will head to the NAIA Championship Meet in Vancouver, Wash., on November 17.
