JOPLIN, Mo. – St. Gregory's University freshman Dominic Cabada earned the Cavaliers' first qualifying standard of the season Saturday at the MSSU Lion Invitational in Joplin, Mo. His time of 8:46.45 in the 3,000-meter run narrowly earned him a "B" standard, coming in a quarter of a second ahead of the qualifying mark. Cabada finished second among all runners in both the 3,000 and the 5,000-meter runs.

Also turning in top 10 finishes were Christian Hammers in the 400-meter dash (9th), Dontayveous Allen in the 800-meter run (9th) and Dawson Holt in the high jump (7th). Allen was only 3.25 seconds from a B standard while Holt came within .15 meters of a B mark.

The NAIA Indoor Championship Meet is February 28 in Geneva, Ohio.

SGU travels to the OBU Indoor Invitational in Norman next Saturday.
