St. Gregory's University women's basketball player Leticia Silva has been named to the All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team, the conference office announced Monday. The conference also honored Cavalier guard Ayrionna Taylor by naming her Freshman of the Year.
Silva, a senior from Whitesboro, Texas, leads the Cavaliers and is second in the conference with a 16.4 scoring average. She became SGU's all-time leading scorer this season and has 1,829 points for her career. Just last month, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team. Silva adds this first-team honor to an honorable mention and third-team selection.
Taylor, a Detroit native, burst onto the scene this season by averaging 9.3 points and 5.4 rebounds. She is third on the team in scoring, second in blocks, and her 37 steals is third-best on the team.
The honors didn't stop there on Monday for the Cavaliers. Junior Kalie Lucas was named third-team All-SAC after finishing near the top of her team's list in many statistical categories. Lucas, a Harrah native, leads the team in blocks and assists, and is second in scoring, rebounds and steals. Her 102 blocks this season leads the NAIA.
Silva, Lucas and Heather Anderson were recognized for their achievements in the classroom, earning Academic All-SAC team honors.
