SHAWNEE – Terrance Artrip brought home a conference championship in the hammer throw this weekend, highlighting a third-place finish for St. Gregory's at the Sooner Athletic Conference meet. The Cavaliers finished with 86 points overall, placing behind Oklahoma Baptist and Wayland Baptist.
The 4x800 relay team also had a good showing, finishing second overall behind OBU. Their time of 7:45.57 was well within a "B" qualifying time and just more than a half-second slower than the "A" standard.
Anthony Watkins earned a "B" national qualifying standard in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.82 – good enough for third place overall. He finished fourth in the 400 hurdles.
Vivien Majorel just missed a "B" standard in the 800 with a time of 1:54.54 – only a half-second off the qualifying time. He finished fifth in the event. Austin Stone finished second in the shot put with a toss of 13.15 meters.
The Cavs return to action next Saturday at the MSSU Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational in Joplin, Mo.
