LUBBOCK, Texas -- For the second consecutive week, St. Gregory's junior Vivien Majorel has hit an "A" national qualifying standard in the 800-meter run. Majorel ran a 1:52.72 Saturday at the Red Raider Open, good enough for seventh overall.
He came in at 1:51.69 last weekend at the MSSU Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational in Joplin, Mo. That's the sixth-best time in the NAIA this season.
Four other Cavs ran the 800 Saturday. Hosea Maritim finished 12th with a time of 1:55.93, Gustavo Escobar was 17th, Greg Sumner was 20th and Robert Torres was 21st.
St. Gregory's competes in the OBU Last Chance meet on Thursday in Shawnee.
