Gary Bandy enters his second third as head coach for the Cavalier baseball program after being promoted to the position in May 2014. Bandy led St. Gregory's to a 21-34 mark in 2016 – only two wins shy of tying a program mark for victories in a season.

Bandy served as an assistant for St. Gregory’s in 2014 with his primary roles including handling the pitching staff, working with the catchers, serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach.

Prior to arriving at St. Gregory’s, Bandy served two years as assistant coach at Hastings College (Neb.), one year as an assistant at York College (Neb.), and has been the head coach for Aurora (Neb.) Junior Legion baseball team. Bandy has also spent the last three summers as a prominent member of Coast to Coast Athletics Baseball Camps. Over the last two summers, Bandy has guided the Aurora Junior Legion team to a pair of Mid-Nebraska Baseball League Championships, two appearances in the state tournament, and an overall record of 49-15.

At Hastings, Bandy was instrumental in heading up a pitching staff with a solid strikeout-to-walk ratio as well as improvement in team fielding percentage and catcher SBA percentage. During his tenure at Hastings, two Broncos were selected to the All-GPAC team. At York, Bandy was part of a coaching staff that lead York to a 39-14 record and an appearance in the MCAC Championship game. Bandy earned his master's degree in teaching from Hastings College in 2013 and his bachelor's degree from York.

Prior to joining the athletic staff at York College, Bandy was a starting catcher and relief pitcher for the York Panthers under the guidance of Nick Harlan in 2008 and 2009. Bandy was named All-MCAC honorable mention as a catcher in 2008. Prior to attending York, Bandy was a catcher at San Mateo College. Under coach Doug Williams, Bandy was a part of San Mateo’s 2006 and 2007 Coast Conference North Championship teams.

Bandy and his wife, Zeruiah, have two daughters: Maddux and Venice.
