SGU sophomore Anthony Watkins is trying to improve upon a sensational freshman season. He qualified for outdoor nationals last year in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.78 at the North Texas Spring Classic. Watkins had a season-best time of 55.20 in the 400 (both indoor and outdoor) and season-best indoor times of 7.41 in the 60, 7.92 in the 55 hurdles, and 8.56 in the 60 hurdles. He had a total of eight top 5 finishes between indoor and outdoor seasons.
Watkins came to SGU from Killeen (Texas) High School, where he was a two-time 110-meter hurdle district champion. He finished 13th out of 44 at the Texas Relays.
