SHAWNEE – Three St. Gregory's University men's soccer players have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Defender Thomas McNamara, goalkeeper Brock Vorwald and midfielder Luke Keogh received the honor Thursday. As first-team selections, they are now added to the ballot for consideration to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team which will be announced later this month.

In order to be selected to an academic all-district team, a student-athlete must demonstrate success on the playing field and in the classroom, with academic and athletic achievements taken into consideration. The student-athlete must possess a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore in academic standing.

The SGU student-athletes were selected in the college division, which includes NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. District VII includes schools in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

McNamara started 11 games this season for SGU and scored one goal. He has played in 58 career games for the Cavaliers, scoring a total of four goals, one assist and one game-winning goal. McNamara has a 3.60 grade-point average while majoring in social studies education.

Vorwald started 13 games at goalkeeper in 2012, recording 58 saves and two shutouts. In September, he was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. An NAIA Scholar-Athlete selection a year ago, Vorwald has been on the dean's honor roll, president's honor roll and the National Honor Society at SGU. He has a 3.82 grade-point average while majoring in biomedical sciences.

Keogh started 15 games this season for the Cavs and recorded one goal and one assist. He has been on the dean's honor roll, president's honor roll and National Honor Society at SGU. Keogh has played in 63 games for SGU in his career, recording 32 shots and two game-winning goals. He has a 3.97 grade-point average while majoring in criminal justice.
