SHAWNEE – Zbeyda Aremi was one of four Oklahoma Baptist players in double figures, and the Lady Bison earned a split in this year's Holy War series with a 74-63 win over St. Gregory's Tuesday night at the Noble Complex. Aremi scored 20 points on 9 of 15 shooting as OBU avenged a 17-point loss to SGU on Jan. 31.

Leticia Silva, Ayrionna Taylor and Kalie Lucas all had 16 points for the Cavs, but poor shooting kept the visitors in catch-up mode all night. SGU shot only 38 percent from the floor, including 3 of 22 from three-point range.

The Lady Bison never trailed, shooting at a 47 percent clip for the game. They forced 17 Cavalier turnovers and outrebounded SGU 39-33.

OBU hit five of its first seven shots and built a 16-6 lead just six minutes in. The Cavs cut it to five on two occasions, the last time coming when Taylor made a driving layup with 7:31 left in the half. The Lady Bison responded, though, scoring nine of the next 13 points to go back up by 10.

They led 42-31 at halftime, due in large part to a 53 percent shooting effort. SGU, conversely, was hampered by poor shooting in the first 20 minutes, making only 8 of 22 from the field and 1 of 10 from three-point range. Silva had a team-high 12 points at the break.

The Cavs had trouble making up ground in the second half as OBU steadily increased its lead. It was 51-37 at the 13:47 mark, 60-44 with 10:07 to play and the home team took its largest lead – 65-47 – with just under eight minutes left.

Taylor hit a pair of free throws with 2:58 to go, capping a 12-3 run for the Cavs over a five-minute span to make it 68-59. But SGU got no closer.

The Cavs (10-16, 3-9 SAC) return to action Thursday when they host USAO. That game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
